What is the Primary Years Program? The PYP is designed for students aged 3 through 12. At Stockton Collegiate, PYP encompasses kindergarten through 5th grade. The PYP is rooted in an inquiry-based approach guided by a transdiscipinary framework that connects local and regional learning to global awareness.
(from IB website Primary Years Programme) Schools must be authorized by the International Baccalaureate Organization to offer the PYP. Stockton Collegiate was authorized in 2013 and will welcome the reauthorization committee in March 2018. |
K12 IBStockton Collegiate is an IB Continuum school offering three IB Programmes. PYP Exhibition |
IB Learner Profile |
The PYP Exhibition is a culminating activity conducted by fifth grade students. The PYP Exhibition is an "extended, in-depth, collaborative project". Students work together to explore a real life issue and share the results with the whole school. "The exhibition represents a ... significant opportunity for students to exhibit the attributes of the IB Learner Profile developed throughout their engagement with the PYP." (from IB website Assessed Curriculum)
The PYP Exhibition is followed by the Personal Project at the end of the Middle Years Program in 10th grade and the Extended Essay in the Diploma Programme in 12th grade. |
![]() The IB Learner Profile is at the heart of an IB education. The ten attributes describe expectations for students, teachers, staff, and parents. The IB Learner Profile guides curricular choices and is the framework for all school activity--academic, social, and extra-curricular.
Complementing the IB Learner Profile are the PYP Attitudes: Appreciation, Empathy, Commitment, Enthusiasm, Confidence, Independence, Cooperation, Integrity, Creativity, Respect, Curiosity, and Tolerance. |
Technology |
Student-led Conferences |
Students in all grades benefit from access to robust internet service in all classroom across all buildings. Each PYP student has his or her own iPad for use at school. Classrooms are equipped with Apple TVs and monitors.
The Technology Acceptable Use Policy governs the appropriate use of technology. |
Student-Parent-Teacher Conferences are scheduled two times a year. All students participate in leading the conference by reviewing their accomplishments, challenges, projects, and goals. Teachers contribute their observations, provide context for the student's progress, and answer questions as necessary. Students lead the conferences in a developmentally appropriate manner. All students participate actively and leadership roles grow as the students grow.
