WHAT IS THE MIDDLE YEARS PROGRAM?
The MYP is designed for students aged 11 through 16. At Stockton Collegiate, the five MYP years encompass 6th through 10th grades.

"The MYP aims to develop active learners and internationally minded young people who...ingquire into a wide range of issues and ideas of significance locally, nationally and globally. The result is young people who are creative, critical and reflective thinkers."

(from IB website Middle Years Programme)
Schools must be authorized by the International Baccalaureate Organization to offer the MYP.

Stockton Collegiate was originally authorized in 2013 and regularly since then. We will welcome the reauthorization team again in 2028.
PERSONAL PROJECT
Through the Middle Years Programme (MYP) projects, students experience the responsibility of completing a significant piece of work over an extended period of time.

MYP projects encourage students to reflect on their learning and the outcomes of their work – key skills that prepare them for success in further study, the workplace and the community. All students who complete the MYP in Year 5 (10th grade) complete the personal project. Stockton Collegiate registers all MYP Year 5 students for external moderation of the personal project, promoting a global standard of quality.

MYP projects are student-centred and age-appropriate, and they enable students to engage in practical explorations through a cycle of inquiry, action and reflection.

(from IB website MYP Projects)
Students share their projects with the school community in a showcase each spring. The Personal Project follows the PYP Exhibition at the end of PYP in 5th grade and is followed by the Extended Essay in the Diploma Programme in 12th grade.
MANAGEBAC
ManageBac is an IB specific tool that Stockton Collegiate uses to post course syllabi, assignments, deadlines, formative and summative assessments, student reflections, and grades. ManageBac is also the school's primary communication tool. Parents have access to all their students assignments and progress. School notices of all types--academic, event notices, schedule changes, and more--are sent to parents/guardians via email through ManageBac.
TECHNOLOGY
Students in all grades benefit from access to robust internet service in all classroom across all buildings. Each PYP student has his or her own iPad for use at school. Classrooms are equipped with Apple TVs and monitors.
The Technology Acceptable Use Policy governs the appropriate use of technology.
STUDENT-LED CONFERENCES
Student-Parent-Teacher Conferences are scheduled two times a year.  All students participate in leading the conference by reviewing their accomplishments, challenges, projects, and goals. Teachers contribute their observations, provide context for the student's progress, and answer questions as necessary. Students lead the conferences in a developmentally appropriate manner. All students participate actively and leadership roles grow as the students grow.
