Inspiration and Imagination
Four students from SCIS Elementary were winners in the “Music of Dave Brubeck Inspires My Imagination” contest sponsored by the Downtown Stockton Alliance.  Their artwork has been  reproduced as part of a large mural now on display at the northwest corner of Main St. and California. Congratulations to Quinn Holmquist, Sammy Morrison, Melody Her, and Penelope Adame, and to Miss Bates (art teacher) and Mrs. Wong (music teacher)! For an enlarged view, click here.

Breaking Ground at Last!
The drawings are done, the permits are pulled, and now financing is in place. Therefore, construction is finally scheduled to begin. Fencing should go up around the buildings at the corner of Sutter and Main (formerly the Mini Mart) by March 14th.  We anticipate a completion date of August 12th just in time for the start of the new school year! WMB Architects has been working with the school on the project since last summer. RCP Construction is joining us now as the general contractor.

National Geographic Photo Camp will operate the program, Restore the Delta will provide local content, and America's Cup will provide an incredible outreach platform to showcase the students’ work and the story of the Delta during the America's Cup Finals in San Francisco in 2013.

10 Reasons Why the IB Diploma Is Ideal Preparation for University

Testing Results
Congratulations to Alejandro Pena! He is the first of what we anticipate will be, in future years, many IB Diploma recipients.  Several other members of the Class of 2012 were within one or two points of achieving this goal.  We congratulate all of the seniors for their devoted efforts during the past two years.  Additionally, several of the members of the upcoming Class of 2013 have positioned themselves extremely well (scoring 4s, 5s and 6s on their Standard Level Exams) to challenge for the IB Diploma this coming May.  Keep up the good work!  Sincere thanks to all the staff members who worked so hard to get the students where they wish to be.  On an additional testing note, five of the seven students who took the Advanced Placement Spanish Language test scored passing marks.

Spring Semester 2012-2013
Congratulations to those students who earned a place on the Principal's List or Honor Roll. We acknowledge and appreciate their efforts.

WASC Accreditation
From Scott Luhn, Head of School: We have received word that we have been accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC).  Our three-year term of accreditation for grades 6 through 12 is the maximum we could receive and runs through June 2014. This is a huge step and moves us forward as a school, ensuring that our students are competitive as they apply to post secondary schools and programs.  We can now be listed with approved courses on the state's UC a-g list. As an accredited school, we are eligible to test both for IB and College Board.  We are an authorized IB Diploma Program and Candidate Schools for both the Middle Years Program (6-10) and Primary Years Program (K-5).  We have continued work to do, but these are very important milestones in our evolution as a school. My sincere thanks to our staff for the hard work and effort that went into making all of this a reality.

PYP Candidate School!!
We received news on July 1st that we have been officially named by IB as a PYP Candidate School. This means that we now begin the process of putting together our Application for Authorization to be submitted in April 2013. Congratulations to all involved!
