El Dorado Charter SELPA
Stockton Collegiate has been accepted as a member of the El Dorado County Charter SELPA, a group of charter schools who work together to provide special education services for their students.

March 10: Pizza Night

Saturday, March 13: Read-a-Thon Kick Off, Cesar Chavez Library, 12-3pm.

Friday, March 19-Sunday, March 21: Barnes & Noble Book Fair
Buy a book for the Stockton Collegiate library, or buy books for yourself and earn money towards the library.  Here is the wish list, put together by a number of inspired teachers!

WFF
Exciting news!  A team from Stockton Collegiate has been invited to interview as finalists for the Walton Family Foundation High Quality Charter grant program.  Being invited to submit the grant was a hurdle in itself, and we are delighted to be able to move into the next round.  Hold positive thoughts for our March interview!

eScrip
Good news!  We now have an account with eScrip.  This allows parents and community members to support Stockton Collegiate simply by doing their regular shopping.  For those of you who have participated in eScrip, go to escrip.com to add us to your account and to make sure that your cards are updated.  If you are not familiar with eScrip, click here for more information.  Be sure to check out the online mall where you can shop at your favorite stores and earn money for Stockton Collegiate.  Donations from eScrip will be used to support field trips and classroom libraries.

Applications
We are continuing to accept applications at all grade levels.  We have established waiting lists for kindergarten, 1st grade, and 3rd grade, but please submit your application. We have the potential to open additional classes given sufficient demand.
Applications may be turned in:

  • in person...
  1. at the Downtown Stockton Alliance, 343 E. Main St., Monday through Friday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
  2. at any informational meeting
Applications are available: (1) online, (2) at any of the informational meetings, or (3) at the Downtown Stockton Alliance (Cort Tower, 343 E. Main St.) Monday through Friday between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m.

IB Candidate School
IB has named Stockton Collegiate's Diploma Program a "Candidate School" and has scheduled an authorization visit for June 2010.  A successful bid for authorization means that Stockton Collegiate would be able to offer Standard Level exams in 2010-2011.

State Grants
Moving forward!!  Stockton Collegiate International Schools has been awarded two planning and implementation grants totalling $1.2 million by the state of California.  The grants of $600,000 each for the elementary and secondary schools will help to cover start-up costs over the next three years.  We are excited about this next step in getting the schools up and running!

The SUSD board members unanimously approved
the charter petitions on Tuesday, August 25.  We appreciate their strong support and are eager to bring Stockton Collegiate to life!  Let us know how you can help...web site support, outreach, promotional materials, donations, recruitment, hosting gatherings....  We have accomplished this much only with enthusiasm and support from the community.  We can make this happen!
