Mission Statement The mission of Stockton Collegiate International Schools is to offer the rigorous, relevant, and practical International Baccalaureate (IB) curricula and methodology to urban students grades K-12 in order to prepare them for post-secondary education and global citizenship in the 21st century. Stockton Collegiate International Schools will enable students to become literate, self-motivated, competent, lifelong learners by providing a multi-cultural, student- centered environment. Vision At Stockton Collegiate International Schools, we intend to implement the full range of educational programs of the International Baccalaureate, the Primary Years Program (grades K-5), the Middle Years Program (grades 6-10), and the Diploma Program (grades 11 and 12). We are pursuing authorization of these programs. We passionately believe that the children of Stockton are capable and enthusiastic learners and that they deserve the opportunity for a broad, high quality, integrated and concurrent liberal arts education. We desire to serve interested students in Stockton Unified School District and in neighboring districts by offering a quality program that is free, public, and open to all students. We embrace the philosophy and methodology espoused by the International Baccalaureate and will reflect that philosophy and methodology in our practice. It is our belief that: • all students can learn. • high standards of performance are expected of all students and staff. • teaching and learning should reflect the best and the most current research on cognition and student development. • the school, parents, and the community are partners in the work of educating their students. • all learning should be meaningful to the student, should require high levels of thinking, and should be connected to life outside of school. • school is the practice setting for future success. |
